PM Narendra Modi’s tweet on Indian women’s cricket team’s silver medal will win hearts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the Indian women’s cricket team for winning the silver medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022. The PM said that this first medal in cricket will always be special. This is the first time that women’s cricket has been included in the Commonwealth Games. India defeated England in the semi-finals to reach the final, where they lost to Australia by 9 runs.

PM tweeted praising the women’s cricket team

Praising the women’s team, the PM tweeted, ‘Cricket and India cannot be separated. Our women’s team played excellent sport throughout the Commonwealth Games and won the coveted silver medal. This is the first medal in cricket at the Commonwealth Games and hence it will always be special.

At one time it seemed that the Indian women’s team would win the gold medal. But after that wickets kept falling one after the other and in front of the target of 162 runs. The Indian team was all out for 152 runs.
