Prithvi Shaw will be the captain of Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy

Opener Prithvi Shaw was on Wednesday named Mumbai captain for the first two matches of the upcoming Ranji Trophy season. Shaw, who has played five Tests and scored 339 runs, including a century, scored in his first innings.

Shaw has scored a total of 2414 first-class runs in 51 innings with nine centuries.

Salil Ankola said, ‘Prithvi is a wonderful captain and a great opener, and what more do you need. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, middle-order batsmen Sarfaraz Khan, Armaan Jaffer, and Drew Gomel have made it to the 20-man squad along with veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Aditya Tare.

The 41-time Ranji champions Mumbai have been placed in Group C of the elite nine teams. And They will start their campaign against Maharashtra on January 13. They will face Delhi in Kolkata from January 20.
