PSL: Lahore Qalandars beat Peshawar Zalmi

Karachi, Feb 3 (AP) Lahore Qalandar thrashed Peshawar Zalmi by 29 runs in a Pakistan Super League match despite dropping half a dozen catches.

Despite poor fielding, Lahore restricted Peshawar to 170 for nine. Earlier, Fakhar Zaman (66) and Mohammad Hafeez (37) took Lahore to 199 for four.

Zalmi’s last batsman Salman Irshad was adjudged leg before

Fast bowler David Weiss came close to his first hat-trick of the season when Peshawar’s last batsman Salman Irshad was adjudged leg before but the batsman took a review and managed.

Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi took two wickets for 19 runs. He bowled Hazratullah Zazai of Afghanistan on the third ball. Kamran Akmal scored 41 runs while Hussain Talat (15) could not take advantage of three lives.

Young fast bowler Zaman Khan took three wickets for 32 runs and got both the batsmen out in successive deliveries.

Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, the veteran spinner from Lahore, got the team off to a great start by dismissing Shoaib Malik (7) in the 12th over. He is playing the first match of this season after recovering from Corona infection.

Haider Ali scored 49 runs for Peshawar

Lahore now have four points from three matches and are in second place. Multan Sultans are on top with winning all four matches.
