Punjab Gets New Coach, More thrill will Increase in IPL

Punjab Kings: Punjab Kings are ready to sign World Cup winning coach Trevor Bayliss as the head coach ahead of the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 59-year-old from New South Wales has been a regular in the IPL and recently coached Sunrisers Hyderabad. Punjab’s hope would be on getting the title from this Australian coach.

England won the World Cup in 2019

Bayliss led England to their maiden World Cup title in 2019 and was also the chief of support staff for Kolkata Knight Riders when they won the IPL in 2012 and 2014. Bayliss will replace legendary India cricketer Anil Kumble whose contract was not extended as the team failed to reach the playoffs during his three-year tenure.

Punjab performance has been poor

Punjab has reached the final in the history of IPL only in 2014 in which it lost to Kolkata Knight Riders. An IPL source told PTI, “The team has decided to tie up with Trevor who is the best in the role and his record speaks for it. The management is hoping that the team wins the title under his guidance. The contract with him will be signed soon.

Hyderabad also changed coach

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has appointed veteran West Indies cricketer Brian Lara as the head coach. Lara was earlier working as the mentor of the team. Brian Lara has a lot of experience. Which can come in handy for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad is Kane Williamson. Under his captaincy, the Hyderabad team could not show a wonderful game in IPL 2022. The team was able to win only 6 matches out of 14 and had to face defeat in 8. For this reason the team could not qualify for the playoffs.
