R Ashwin wanted to be the next ‘Kapil Dev’ of Team India and used to do this special work for this

Bangalore. Pretr. R Ashwin is a great spin bowler and he has proved this through his bowling. During the Mohali Test match against Sri Lanka, R Ashwin broke the Test record of former Indian captain Kapil Dev. Now R Ashwin has come second in terms of taking the most wickets for India in Test cricket, where Kapil Dev was the first. Kapil Dev took 434 wickets in Test cricket, but R Ashwin crossed this figure.

R Ashwin, who broke Kapil Dev’s record, told that in childhood he wanted to become a batsman and also used to bowl at medium pace to become the next Kapil Dev. 35-year-old R Ashwin surpassed Kapil Dev’s 434 Test wickets in his 85th Test. He has become India’s most successful bowler after Anil Kumble in Test cricket. He said that I never dreamed that I would take more wickets than him because I wanted to be a batsman, especially at the age of eight when I started playing cricket. He said that batting was my hobby in 1994. Sachin Tendulkar was a rising star and Kapil Dev himself was a brilliant batsman. R Ashwin said that on the advice of my father, I used to bowl medium fast so that I could become the next Kapil Paaji. I had never thought of becoming an off-spinner from there and playing for India for so many years.
