Rajasthan Royals have signed South African legspinner and world No. 1 T20I bowler Tabrez Shamsi as a replacement for Australian pacer Andrew Tye for the remainder of the IPL. The franchise made the announcement on Wednesday (August 25).
Shamsi Played a Total of Four Matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore:
This left-arm chinaman bowler has 45 wickets in 39 T20 Internationals. In IPL, Shamsi has played a total of four matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore where he returned 3 wickets in 2016. Shamsi also took a total of seven wickets in five matches for Oval Invincible at The Hundred.
Shamsi Withdraws From Tournament to Spend Time With his Family :
After a hectic season from one bio-bubble to the next. Tye withdrew from the tournament to spend time with his family. It is with great regret that I have to withdraw from the remaining matches of IPL 2021 with Rajasthan Royals. Tye said in a statement. “It’s been a long year for me that has kept me away from home for a long time. And the disappointment of not making the World Cup squad only added to the disappointment.
“So, keeping my best interests in mind. I had to make this difficult decision to stay at home and prepare myself. Mentally and physically for next year’s T20 World Cup. I am saddened that I am in the Royals family. I won’t be able to join again in this year. But as like all fans, I will be cheering for the team.”
