Ranji Trophy: Shreyas Gopal and Vijaykumar Vaishak struck three-fers as Karnataka bundled out Uttarakhand for 209 in the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy with a stunning innings and 281-run win.

Ranji Trophy: Gopal was awarded the player of the match –

Uttarakhand needed at least 384 runs to make Karnataka bat again but could not really put up a fight. M Venkatesh, who took a fifty in the first innings, ended the overnight unbeaten half-century partnership in the early hours of Friday morning, but Swapnil Singh scored 51 and became Vaishak’s first day’s three victims.

Gopal then went on to take 3 for 26 to go along with his fifth first-class century (161) and was awarded the player of the match for his all-round excellence.

Ranji Trophy: Bengal book their place in the semi-finals –

Bengal beat Jharkhand by nine wickets at the Eden Gardens to book their place in the semi-finals. Jharkhand, already struggling with a 155-run first innings lead, needed a miracle when they resumed their day on 162/7, but they could manage only 221 in their second essay despite Supriyo Chakraborty’s 41 not out. Needing 67 runs to make it to the semi-finals.
