New Delhi, Online Desk. After performing brilliantly for RCB in IPL 2022, wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik returned to Team India, but many questions were raised about his place in the presence of Rishabh Pant. But now in response to these questions, former head coach of Team India Ravi Shastri has given his response. He said that Karthik has a chance to cement his place in Team India for the T20 World Cup in the upcoming 5-match T20I series against South Africa.

Ravi Shastri told that both of them have experience

He added that “this is his opportunity. If he gets a chance in these matches, he has to do better. We know he has the experience, so it becomes even more important.”

Talking about the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in Australia later this year.Shastri said that “the void in the form of wicketkeeper MS Dhoni as a finisher in Karthik can be filled.” He said that it will have to be seen according to the requirement of the team. “What are they looking for? Do they want a keeper who can bat at the top of the order or someone who fits into the role of a finisher. I would go with the second option. You need a keeper who plays MS Dhoni’s role will do, and it should be.”

Rishabh Pant may already bat in the top four or five in T20 cricket

Rishabh Pant may already bat in the top four or five in T20 cricket. But you want someone who can finish the match. There are no finishers in the team after MS Dhoni’s departure. So I think there are great opportunities for him here. Karthik last played T20 International against Australia in 2019.
