Even though India defeated England 4-1 in the recent series, all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin said that what Ben Stokes and Co. did during the series cannot be described in less words. After making a winning start to the series and putting pressure on India at various stages in Visakhapatnam, Rajkot and Ranchi, England lost their first series of the baseball era.

Ravichandran Ashwin said in the Ideas Exchange with The Indian Express :-

Ashwin said in the Ideas Exchange with The Indian Express, “What England did on this tour cannot be denied or talked about in less words. I think it’s some fantastic work. Whenever you do something new and when it has the potential to be revelatory or revolutionary or entertaining, you will find areas in which you can always find balance. Overall, I thought he played good cricket.”

“I didn’t think too much about going into the series. “I expected them to come down a little bit and maybe try to put pressure on us, which they did.”

Ashwin further added, “For me, it was a great learning. It was very exciting and challenging. At the same time, I am very happy that on the other end of it, I have learned a lot more.”

Ashwin said this about Ben Stokes :-

Talking about Ben Stokes, Ashwin said, “Stokes did something different in Dharamshala compared to Hyderabad and Ranchi, where the pitches were slow. In Hyderabad he wanted to play on the backfoot a lot. It was the slowest surface I have played cricket on.” So many years of playing. So when the ball turns, it just hits your bat and doesn’t hit the stumps. So Stokes was hanging back. That’s the burden he found himself in Ranchi.”
