Lucknow, PTI. Team India captain Rohit Sharma on Wednesday advised young batsmen aspiring to represent the country. And currently playing in the Ranji Trophy to keep scoring runs and not worry about selection. Opportunity is bound to arise. U-19 World Cup winning captain Yash Dhul and Mumbai’s Sarfaraz Khan are among the young players to have scored a century in the opening round of Ranji Trophy.
Rohit said before the first T20 match against Sri Lanka, ‘All I can tell them is to keep scoring runs. Opportunities will arise as it happened for Hanuma Vihari, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill. And all the players who are now part of the Test team. You have to keep scoring runs. Keep doing your work. That’s all I can say to him at this point of time and we expect the same from him. Opportunities will arise and of course they will be focusing on scoring more runs than worrying about that. They will not be worrying about whether I am being selected or not.

Which will be played in Mohali and Bengaluru next month. “A lot of things depend on what kind of combination we have in the team at the moment. And on which pitch and against whom we are playing. Selection depends a lot on all these things. But as I said very clearly, it has only three Test matches in a year. We have announced the squad for two Test matches and there is one Test which will be played in England. We will see about England later.
