Rohit Sharma: If you guys (media) keep quiet, everything will be all right for Virat Kohli, said Virat Kohli’s ongoing batting at skipper Rohit ahead of the first match of India’s T20 series against West Indies on Wednesday Asked about incompatibility.

Captain Rohit Sharma said:-

“If you guys (media) can keep quiet for a while, everything will be fine. He (Kohli) is in a very mental state. And he has been playing international cricket for more than a decade. He knows how to handle pressure,” said Rohit.

Kohli has not scored an international century for almost two and a half years now. Maybe, it would be an exaggeration to say that he is going through a crisis as a batsman, just a month ago he scored two half-centuries in the three-match ODI series in South Africa.

But due to his high standards, he has lost his consistency. Scores of 8, 18, and 0 in the three ODIs against West Indies, which were the matches before the T20I series, further cemented that discrepancy. In the last two years, his Test, ODI, and T20I averages have gone up to 28.14, 39, and 49.50 respectively.

As the head coach of the Indian team Rahul Dravid said during the team’s tour of South Africa, every cricketer, mostly those who play for a long time, go through such a bad phase.

But even batting maestro Sunil Gavaskar, during the limited-overs series, argued for the host broadcaster that Kohli should not take any pressure while batting.

Sunil Gavaskar also spoke about how the former captain sorted out some technical issues that had cropped up; The result of hard work on the net.

The IPL Auction:-

The T20I series comes on the heels of the IPL auction where some cricketers became millionaires overnight. Ishaan Kishan at Rs 15.25 crore and Deepak Chahar at Rs 14 crore were the two biggest buys in the auction.

It was an emotional roller coaster, mostly for the younger players. So after the auction, the Indian team management gave him a clear message.

“Yesterday, we had an excellent meeting which gave the message that the focus should be on the color blue for the next two weeks. It was understood that people go through some ups and downs and a lot of emotional feelings (during the auction). Will pass

He was asked about his Mumbai Indians teammate Ishaan Kishan. The captain’s reply was sharp. “I don’t want to talk about IPL here.

We will not focus on what they are going to do for their respective franchises in the IPL. IPL is for two months, we play 10 months for India.
