Rohit Sharma’s childhood coach tells the unheard story of ‘Rohit’ and ‘Mercedes’

Experienced opening batsman Rohit Sharma, who played for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024, will play the role of a key batsman for Mumbai this season too.

This season, Hardik Pandya has been given the responsibility of captaining Mumbai in place of Rohit Sharma. Let us tell you that in IPL, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma are the only two captains who have won 5 IPL titles for their franchises Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.

Rohit Sharma’s childhood coach Dinesh Lad narrated the unheard story of ‘Rohit’ and ‘Mercedes’. Dinesh Lad said, “Once Rohit and I saw a Mercedes car and he said, ‘Sir, I will buy this car one day.’ I said to him, ‘Are you crazy? These are too expensive.’ But he said to me: “Sir, I will buy it.” Rohit’s confidence was very high and Rohit knew he could reach that level.”

Let us tell you that Dinesh Lad is the coach under whose supervision Rohit was selected for the Mumbai Under-19 team.

Rohit Sharma was 20 years old in IPL auction 2008 :-

Let us tell you that Rohit was only 20 years old when Deccan Chargers included him in their team for Rs 4.8 crore in the IPL auction 2008 and he was the second highest run scorer for Deccan Chargers that season. In the 2008 IPL season, Rohit scored 404 runs in 13 matches for Deccan Chargers.

Took a hat trick in IPL 2009 :-

In the very next season, IPL 2009, which was played in South Africa, Rohit excelled in batting as well as bowling when he took a hat-trick against Mumbai. He had shown the way to the pavilion to Mumbai’s three batsmen Abhishek Nair, Harbhajan Singh and Jean Paul on three consecutive balls.

Mumbai Indians made IPL champion 5 times :-

After this, Rohit Sharma is a part of Mumbai Indians since IPL 2011 season and till now Rohit has captained Mumbai and played an important role in winning the IPL title in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020.

So far, under the captaincy of Rohit, Mumbai has won 87 out of 158 matches while facing defeat in 67 matches.
