Ryan ten Doeschate will retire from Professional cricket

Netherlands and Essex all-rounder Ryan Ten Doeschate will retire from professional cricket by the end of 2021, the county confirmed. The Netherlands has selected the 41-year-old players. The upcoming to be held in UAE and Oman T20 World Cup.

Ryan made his international debut in 2006 :-

Ten Doeschate made its debut in international cricket in 2006, but began its continued association with Essex in 2003, after suffering Graham Gooch during a pre-season match in South Africa. In 19 seasons at the club, Ten Doeschate made 554 appearances across all formats, scoring 17,046 runs and taking 348 wickets.

Ryan Ten Doeschate won the limited-overs tournament (Tutsport League) for two consecutive years in 2005 and 2006 – a year in which he scored 259 for the Netherlands against Canada, his highest first-class score.

Ryan named ICC Associate Player of the Year :-

Ten Doeschate was selected as the ICC Associate Player of the Year for the first time in 2008. Before receiving the award again in 2010 and 2011. He also tasted success in the IPL, winning two titles with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012 and 2014.

Ten Doeschate’s ban with Essex only strengthened when he was made captain of the club in 2016, forcing him to return to the peak level of domestic competition by winning the Second Division title.

He then ended a 25-year wait to win the County Championship title – while remaining unbeaten during the season. Under his experience, Essex returned again two years later in a remarkable campaign.

Although he relinquished the captaincy in 2019, Ryan was instrumental in taking Essex forward and winning the undefeated Bob Willis Trophy in 2020.

Ten Doeschate said :-

“ We’ve shared some writeable time but the biggest reward for me has been making a home away from home. In Chelmsford I have an accumulation of memories that told me to be happy long into retirement,” said Ten Doeschate.
