SL vs SA: Dunith scored an impressive century in the play-off semi-final as Sri Lanka registered a win over South Africa, defeating the latter by 65 runs in the fifth-place play-off semi-final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup here on Sunday defeated.

The Line-up Completely Aborted :-

Ready to chase 233, the South African batting line-up became completely afloat and was bowled out for 167 runs. Ronan Hermann and Gerhardus Mari worked hard for their side, but could not manage to turn things around.

Ronan Harman scored 34 runs down the order, while the middle-order batsman – Mary – scored the pinnacle with his 44, while the rest of the batsmen did not cooperate in the run chase.

For Sri Lanka, Raveen de Silva, Chevon Daniels, and Travin Mathew took two wickets each, while Dunith Wellalage and Vanuja Sahan took one wicket each.

The Achieved Success :-

Batting first, Sri Lanka managed to post a commendable total of 232 runs in the allotted 50 overs, thanks to their captain – Velalez, who scored a scintillating century and guided his side.

Dunith played an excellent inning of 113 runs in 130 balls with the help of nine fours and four sixes, while Ranuda Somarathane also scored an excellent half-century. He remained unbeaten on 57 off 70 balls, which included three fours and two sixes.

For the Proteas, Quena Mafaka starred, taking three wickets, while Matthew Bost took two. Dewald Brevis, on the other hand, made a skull.

Uganda defeated Scotland in the 13th-place play-off and won the match by 51 runs.

Ready to chase 227, the Scottish batting line-up could manage just 170 runs, giving Uganda a massive 51-run victory. Oliver Davidson and Jack Jarvis showed endurance while the rest of the batsmen failed to make an impact with the bat.

Davidson scored 31 runs, while Jarvis remained the top scorer with 37 off just 33 balls, with six fours and a maximum.

For Uganda, Zuma Miyaji took four wickets, while Christopher Kidega took three. On the other hand, Payas Olaka took two wickets.

The First Wicket Lost For Just One Run :-

Batting first, Uganda scored an extra 226 runs from a poor start; Lost the first wicket for just one run. Ronald Lutaya and the captain – Pascal Murungi then batted with courage and made a strong partnership to take the innings forward.

Murungi scored 49 while Lutaya scored 64 off 78 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes.
