Sam Cook named in England Lions squad for Australia

Essex’s new bowler Sam Cook has been included in the England Lions squad for the tour of Australia.
Sam Cook, 24, took a total of 58 wickets in the 2021 County Championship at an average of 14.43 which included a remarkable 10 wickets in a single day in two innings. Because Essex had defeated Northamptonshire within two days in their final match of the season.
Since joining Essex’s first team at the time of the 2017 season. Sam Cook has taken a total of 162 first-class wickets at 20.35 in 47 matches. In that time, he has contributed to two County Championship titles in 2017 and 2019. As well as the Bob Willis Trophy in 2020. And the Second Division title in the now-abandoned conference system used last summer.
He was also a member of the T20 side that claimed the Blast title in 2019. And took 20 more wickets in Essex’s T20 Blast campaign in 2021, despite the club’s failure to progress past the group stage last summer.
He will join the other 14 members of the Lions squad before leaving for Australia on November 4. Where he will shade the main Ashes party along with other seam bowling reserves. Including Durham’s Brydon Cars, Warwickshire’s Liam Norwell and Saqib Mahmood. Lancashire.
