Sanju Samson is the first player to be retained by Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2022. ESPN Cricinfo has learned that the 27-year-old will continue as captain this week. After A deal of Rs 14 crore per season was agreed upon.
The List of Players :-
It is learned that Sanju Samson was the first on the list of players the Royals wanting to keep. Before the retention, the window closes on November 30. The remaining three slots (in no particular order) are at the forefront.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler, and pacer Jofra Archer, all-rounder Liam Livingstone- and uncapped opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Samson joined the Royals in 2018 for Rs 8 crore. He was elevated to the captaincy last season and although he could not take the team to the playoffs, he finished 2021 with 484 runs at a strike rate of 137.
A Had To Sit Out Due To Injury This Year :-
Ben Stokes (INR 12.5 Crore), Jofra Archer (INR 7.2 Crore), and Jos Buttler (INR 4.4 Crore) also cost the Royals big money, but they have been players of big impact. Jofra also won the Player of the Tournament in 2020 but had to sit out due to injury this year.
The Rajasthan Royals management is keen to get hold of their star pacer, however, his fitness has become a matter of controversy.
Jos Buttler is expected to be signed on retention soon but Stokes’ situation is not easy. Although the talismanic all-rounder took a break from cricket in 2021 and has just returned to training, the key question about him is money and whether the franchise will have enough to stand his chance.
A Team Retains A Total Of Four Players :-
According to the rules of IPL, a team can retain a total of four players, out of which a maximum of two can be foreign players. The cost of this arrangement is Rs 42 crores but still, the owner has Rs 48 crores to spend in the auction.
