Saurashtra and Madhya Pradesh will both host the Irani Cup for the 2022-23 season, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and the Vijay Hazare Trophy to be played from October 11 to December 2.

The BCCI has given both Saurashtra and Madhya Pradesh a chance to compete in the Irani Cup during the 2022-23 season.

Saurashtra will play the season-opener against the Rest of India at their home ground Rajkot from October 1-5, while Madhya Pradesh, winners of the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy, will play their identical match from March 1-5 in Indore.
The board issued a circular to all the state associations along with the calendar along with the venues for the 2022-23 season. There was some misunderstanding earlier when it was assuming that MP would play the inaugural Irani Cup of the season.

The squad also began their pre-season training, with a special emphasis on red-ball cricket, on the assumption that they would play this fixture.
Saurashtra was awarding the game which was denied in 2020. When they defeated Bengal to claim their maiden Ranji Trophy crown.
They were slated to host the Irani Cup next week, but the game was postponing indefinitely due to the start of the Covid-19 pandemic that led to a nationwide lockdown in India.
Meanwhile, Kolkata and Ahmedabad will host the knockout stages of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) and Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) respectively.
The one-day competition will run from November 12 to December 2:-
The domestic T20 event, the SMAT, will take place from October 11 to November 5. While the VHT one-day event will run from November 12 to December 2.
Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot, Punjab, and Jaipur will host the league-stage matches of the SMAT. While Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata, and Ranchi will stage the VHT league fixtures.
After shortened editions in 2020-21 and 2021-22 due to the pandemic. The BCCI is organizing a full domestic season in 2022-23.

The season will begin with the Duleep Trophy. Which will be playing at three venues – Coimbatore, Pondicherry, and Chennai – from September 8 to 25. While the Ranji Trophy – in home and away format, will be played from December 12 and February 20.
