Heavy rain in Antigua forced the T20I series opener between West Indies Women and South Africa Women. To be abandoned on Tuesday (August 31).

After winning the toss and electing to bat, South Africa posted a competitive 135/3 in their allotted 20 overs. West Indies Women will be back in action in the coming weeks when they host South Africa Women in an eight-match series in Antigua at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground and the Coolidge Cricket Ground as they build up to the ICC Women’s World Cup qualifiers later this year.

The South Africa women’s cricket team are playing the West Indies women’s cricket team in Antigua in August and September 2021.[1] The tour will consist of five women’s one day internationals (WODIs) and three women’s T20 internationals  (WT20Is).[2] The WODI matches will be used as the West Indies’ preparation for the 2021 women’s world cup qualifier  tournament.[3]

However, Laura Wolvaardt (35 off 21) and Tzmin Britts (14 off 11) combined for a crucial stand of 48 to help the visitors end on a strong note.

West Indies Scored 21 for 1 After two Overs:

The second T20I will be played on Thursday (September 2) at the Sir Viv Richards Cricket Ground.
