Sheffield Shield Match Postponed

The Sheffield Shield match between New South Wales and Victoria. At the SCG has been postponed after all-rounder Will Sutherland tested positive for COVID-19.

“During routine COVID-19 testing, Will Sutherland has returned a test result. This requires further analysis,” a Cricket Australia statement said. “The Victorian team is currently self-isolating while this analysis and investigation is underway. Cricket Australia will provide further updates in due course.”

This will be Australia’s first positive COVID case within professional sport and comes as the country moves to live with the virus with increased vaccination rates.

Both teams have been fully vaccinated against cricket. With both teams becoming the first sport to complete a full dose domestically.

Earlier this Season there was a Sheffield Shield Match Between Queensland and Tasmania.
