Sheldon Cottrell, Chase and Meyers have Tested Positive for COVID-19

Sheldon Cottrell, Roston Chase and Kyle Meyers are among four members of the West Indies Touring Party. Who have tested positive for COVID-19 upon. Their arrival in Pakistan on 9 December.

The Three-Match T20I Series :-

The three teams, along with a non-coaching member of the event, will undergo self-isolation. And will be unavailable for the three-match T20I series in extravaganza. Which begins in Karachi from Monday.

The touring squad landed in Karachi on a commercial flight from the Caribbean via Dubai, and have since been scheduled to their rooms. In the preliminary tests conducted in addition to the debut, four members tested positive.

Cricket West Indies CEO Johnny Grave endorsed that the tour would go as per schedule, apart from COVID-19 issues.

A Supported Covid-19 Positive :-

Johnny Grave said, “Our debut testing protocol in Pakistan has supported four (4) COVID-19 positives.” “These were backed up while players and staff were still in room isolation, so in addition to this significant setback to our preparation plans, we are confident that timing can continue as everyone else has tested negative PCR and Have returned two negative PCRs.They have been in Karachi.

“It is impossible to completely remove the scourge of the COVID-19 infection from the cricket tour, apart from the fact that many of our players are living in a bio-secure bubble almost continuously from the CPL.

This amazing loss of three players will give our squad a serious boost to our team’s preparations, but the rest of the squad are in good spirits and will start training today ahead of our first match on Monday.”

The CWI Media Release :-

A CWI media information stated that “all four members have been fully vaccinated and are without major dispositions”.

But they will remain in isolation for 10 days and will not be given consent to be included in the main group until they return negative test. They will be monitored by team physician Dr. Akshay Mansingh.

The absence of Sheldon Cottrell, Chase and Meyers has further incapacitated a West Indies team. That is already without many of its senior players. While regular skipper Kieron Pollard has been ruled out due to injury. Andre Russell is playing the Big Bash League in Australia.

Karachi will host the entire white-ball series, which includes three T20Is and three ODIs, the last of which is on December 22.
