Shikhar Dhawan spoke for the first time after being stripped of the captaincy

Just ahead of the three-match ODI series on India’s tour of Zimbabwe, the BCCI decided to change the captain. Shikhar Dhawan was removed from the captaincy and KL Rahul was given the command of the team, while Dhawan’s experience and statistics as a captain are much better than Rahul. However, despite this, Shikhar Dhawan’s spirits are high and he is ready to help the youth while playing the role of vice-captain.

Shikhar Dhawan: I enjoy sharing my experience with the youngsters in the team

Shikhar Dhawan said during a media interaction, “I really enjoy sharing my experience with the youngsters in the team. I first came here in 2014 (2013), when Duncan Fletcher was the Indian coach. If they (youth) come to me for any suggestion, I am (always) ready to answer them.”

Statement on Rahul’s Return

This 36-year-old veteran batsman is very happy that captain Rahul will get a chance to spend time on the field before the Asia Cup. “It is great news that KL (Rahul) is back and will also lead the team. He is one of the main players of this Indian team. It will be a good preparation for him before the Asia Cup starts. I am sure he will benefit greatly from this tour.”

Dhawan’s opinion on being out of injured Washington Sundar

All-rounder Washington Sundar was ruled out of the tour due to injury. He injured his shoulder in the Royal London One Day Cup in England. This 22-year-old player from Chennai represented the Indian team for the last time in February 2021. Dhawan said, “It is sad that Washington is out. He is a very important player for the team. But it is part of the career. Injuries will continue. Hope he gets well soon. He will be missed as a spinner but the team has options in the form of Kuldeep Yadav and Deepak Hooda.
