Sikandar Raza and Tahlia McGrath named Cricketer of the Month

India’s Jemima Rodrigues fell behind Australia’s Tahlia McGrath in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) women’s player of the month race, while Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza won the title in the men’s category.

McGrath was instrumental in making Australia gold medalists in Birmingham

In the women’s category, Rodrigues along with Commonwealth Games gold medalists Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGraw of Australia also nominated for the award. McGraw was instrumental in making Australia gold medalists in Birmingham, which earned him the award. He also took five wickets at 13.40 and scored 114 runs at an average of 57 in the Commonwealth Games. During this, he also took three wickets, including an unbeaten 78 against Pakistan.

“I am honored to be named the ICC Women’s Player of the Year for August as there are so many great players out there who are at the top of their game,” McGrath said in a release issued by the ICC. Vale is the first male player from Zimbabwe. The 36-year-old nominated along with legendary all-rounders like New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner and England’s Ben Stokes.

Raza performed brilliantly against Bangladesh and India during this period
