Somerset Signs Peter Siddle As An All-Format For 2022 Season

Somerset has signed Peter Siddle as an all-format overseas player for the 2022 season. The Siddle, 37, will be available by early August.

The Recent Spell with Essex :-

In which Somerset will become their fourth county side after their previous spells with Nottinghamshire, Lancashire, and most recently Essex.

The experienced Australian pacer is Somerset’s third overseas signing for 2022, after Matt Renshaw – his Adelaide Strikers teammate – and South African Merchant de Lange, have only two agreed-upon playing XIs in each format.

Peter Siddle is setting to play alongside de Lange in the T20 Blast. And is likely to starting. The season alongside Renshaw in the County Championship, de Lange was underwhelming. Took 20 wickets at 34.25 from last year, With the red ball.

A Director Andy Hurry said :-

The club’s director of cricket Andy Hurry said the decision to sign an additional seamer was a nod to the merit of England’s call-up for the likes of Craig Overton and Lewis Gregory.

“We have learned some very valuable lessons from the 2021 season. And one of them is the demand that domestic and international events are putting on players. And our squad,” he added.

“With a very erratic international schedule and sudden call-ups. We expected to recruit an extra highly skilled bowler. Who will be ready to display the coming summer from now on?
