Sunil Gavaskar targeted ‘CSA’: After Team India’s first match of the series against the Proteas was canceled due to incessant rain in Durban on 10 December, great Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has left no stone unturned in taking a dig at Cricket South Africa (CSA).
Gavaskar angry with initial preparations of Cricket South Africa :-
Actually Gavaskar is angry with the initial preparations of Cricket South Africa. CSA could not cover the entire cricket field due to rain even before the coin toss. On this, Gavaskar told Star Sports,
“If the ground remains open and the rain stops, you know the match doesn’t start for another hour. Every cricket board is getting a lot of money and if they say they don’t have to, they They are lying. They may not have as much money as BCCI but they have money to buy covers to cover the entire grounds of each board.”
IND vs SA T20I: Praise of former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly :-
Gavaskar also made special mention of former President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly. He said,
“As of May 2023, Eden Gardens in Kolkata was the only stadium in India to have a fully covered rain management system. When Eden Gardens was called to play a Test match, the game could not start due to some problem but in the very next game, Eden Gardens covered the entire field. This is the kind of initiative you want. Sourav Ganguly was the man in charge and he ensured that no one could point a finger at Eden Gardens.”
Also remembered the 2019 World Cup :-
Gavaskar also recalled how the bad weather in England had disappointed everyone in the 2019 World Cup. This World Cup saw the highest number of matches abandoned or without results due to rain. Sri Lanka’s two World Cup 2019 matches against Pakistan and Bangladesh were abandoned without the toss due to rain. South Africa’s clash with West Indies also ended without any result.
