SRH vs KKR: Kolkata’s Disease Not Cured, Batsman Hit 39 Sixes in 24 Balls

New Delhi: Two-time IPL champions KKR have not been able to gain momentum in the current season. Especially the failure to perform well in the powerplay while batting has troubled him the most and he got to see the same condition against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The presence of two explosive batsmen in the form of Jason Roy and Rahmanullah Gurbaz also could not give Kolkata a good start and the reason for this was Hyderabad fast bowler Marco Janson.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, who were bowling first in their home ground, got the kind of start they needed, their fast bowlers got them inside the powerplay. The poor condition of Kolkata’s batting contributed fully to this. Within just 24 balls, Hyderabad returned the pavilion to the Kolkata batsmen.

KKR Flop Again in Powerplay

Left-arm fast bowler Marco Janson, who came to bowl in the second over of the innings, broke this partnership in the beginning itself. On the very first ball of the over, Janson got Gurbaj caught out. On the last ball of the same over, Venkatesh Iyer also caught wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen off Janson’s ball.

Kolkata had high hopes from Jason Roy and he also made some efforts but it was insufficient. Jason Roy also lost his wicket in the very first over of young Indian pacer Karthik Tyagi, playing his first match this season.

Batsman With 39 Sixes in 24 Balls

Gurbaj was dismissed after playing only one ball, while Venkatesh Iyer scored 7 runs in 4 balls. At the same time, 20 runs came off the bat of Jason Roy in 19 balls. In this way, 3 explosive batsmen returned to the pavilion in just 24 balls. These three batsmen together have hit a total of 39 sixes in the current season. This includes 16 sixes from Venkatesh Iyer‘s bat, 12 from Gurbaj and 11 from Jason Roy.

This was the second match between the two teams this season. The first match was played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Hyderabad batsman Harry Brook scored a century in that match. On its own, Hyderabad had defeated Kolkata.
