Star batsman Mayank’s fortunes turned as soon as he became a father, got a new IPL team; Now hit a century after 13 months

New Delhi: The new year has brought happiness for star batsman Mayank Agarwal, who is running out of Team India. By the way, the good days had started for him only last month, when he and his wife Ashita Sood became parents. After this, he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 8.25 crore in the IPL auction and now at the beginning of the new year, he has also staked his claim for the Indian Test team by scoring a century against Chhattisgarh in the Ranji Trophy. Mayank is running in excellent form in this Ranji season. He had scored half-centuries in three consecutive matches before scoring a century against Chhattisgarh.

Ranji Trophy match is being played between Karnataka and Chhattisgarh at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Karnataka won the toss and elected to bowl first. The entire Chhattisgarh team was bundled out for 311 runs in the first innings. Ashutosh Singh scored 135 and Amandeep Khare scored 93 runs for Chhattisgarh. At the same time, fast bowler Vidhwat Kaverappa, playing his first first class season for Karnataka, took the maximum of 5 wickets. Apart from him, Kaushik V also took 4 wickets in his name.

The opening pair of Mayank Agarwal added 163 runs for the first wicket

In response to this, Karnataka batted brilliantly in the first innings so far. The opening pair of R Samarth and Mayank Agarwal added 163 runs for the first wicket. R Samarth missed out on scoring his fourth consecutive century. But, he was successful in getting his team off to a solid start. He scored 81 runs. After this, Mayank took the lead and completed his century before the end of the day’s play. He has scored a century in first class cricket after 13 months. He is unbeaten after scoring 102 runs in 191 balls.

Karnataka still trail Chhattisgarh by 109 runs

Mayank hit 9 fours and 5 sixes. At the end of the second day’s play, Karnataka’s score was 202 runs at the loss of 1 wicket. Karnataka is still 109 runs behind Chhattisgarh and has 9 wickets left.

The way Mayank is batting brilliantly in Ranji Trophy. Looking at him, his return to the Test team is visible. If his form continues, then he can become a challenge for Shubman Gill.
