Select player by reputation or name

Former Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports during the fourth T20, I know people are talking about how you can include him in the team when he is not playing consistently. How do you see if he is able to play? He can be the player you want. You look at someone’s form. No one chooses the player on the basis of reputation or name. Don’t go by his age. Although Gavaskar did not name anyone, it is believed to be a reply to Gautam Gambhir’s statement.
