After India’s crushing defeat at the hands of England in the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, batting great Sunil Gavaskar has claimed that there are going to be many retirements after the mega event.
Apart from this, Gavaskar has also told who will be the captain of the Indian team in future. The stormy innings of Alex Hales and Jos Buttler forced the Indian team out of the tournament.
Gavaskar said this on Star Sports:-
On Star Sports after the match, Gavaskar said, “After winning the IPL trophy in his very first attempt as captain, he would have marked Hardik Pandya as the next captain. Hardik Pandya will definitely lead the team in future. And some will retire.
Players will give a lot of thought to this. There are many players around the age of 35 in the team who will reconsider their position in the Indian T20I team.”
Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans to the title in IPL 2022 :-
Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022. He scored 487 runs in 15 matches at an average of 44.27 and with four half-centuries. Pandya also took eight wickets in the entire tournament.
Apart from this, Pandya was the vice-captain during the home series against South Africa in June, while he was the captain of Team India in two matches against Ireland, which India won 2–0.
