India vs England – Suryakumar Yadav, Krunal Pandya, and Prashid Krishna included in India squad for ODI Series.
Suryakumar Yadav was unlucky to have been given in the 14th over after repeated always of Dawid Malan’s catch of Sam Curran by the TV umpire.
He started off by hitting Jofra Archer for a massive six off the first ball he faced, which was also a huge 143kph screamer. He maintained his fine form and registered 57 runs with 3 sixes and 6 fours in his knock-off 31 balls.
How can this be out? When you are not sure whether the ball was taken cleanly after watching so many replays using top-class technology and still go by the soft signal given by the on-field umpire. I think this rule needs to be revisited and changed. VVS Laxman
Suryakumar a brilliant performance from the bowlers helped, India had won the Test series comfortably despite losing the opening Test in Chennai. The five-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series is currently level at 2-2 after India beat England by eight runs in the fourth T20I on Thursday.
Earlier, batting for the first time in international cricket, Suryakumar hit a classy 31-ball 57 to ensure India posted a competitive 185/8.
Prasidh Krishna, who has played for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, had a good run in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy in which he picked up 14 wickets in seven matches at an average of 24.5. Suryakumar, a proven performer in the domestic circuit and the IPL, finally got a break during the T20I series against England, with the Mumbai batsman scoring a crucial half-century in the fourth T20I. He also did well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
All-rounder Krunal Pandya, who has been part of the T20I set-up in the past, scored two unbeaten centuries and two fifties for Baroda in the domestic 50-over tournament recently.
The fifth and final T20I will be played on Saturday.
