Sydney Sixers left shocked as Erin ineligible to join squad

The Sydney Sixers were left “a little surprised” that they were unable to receive approval for Erin Burns to be included in their squad in Adelaide or Mackay. She’ll miss the Sixer all the way to WBBL. Unless the Sixers are adept at hosting the home final.

Erin Burns was capping six times :-

Erin Burns was capped six times by Australia. Med made himself ineligible for the start of the competition in Hobart to spend. As much time at home. As possible and required a two-week quarantine upon his return after his stint at the Hundred.

“We tried to do everything we could, but to no avail,” said Claire Crudson, Cricket NSW’s interim head of women’s cricket.

The Disappointed for teammates :-

“We are hopeless for Erin Burns and her teammates and a little puzzled why we are unable to get other sports by taking players and families across borders to get their jobs done.

“But in the end, we respect the findings and procedures implemented by state governments and experience for those outside the states who are unable to see family and friends.”

Although New South Wales and Victoria have begun to open up to each other with increases in vaccination rates, other states have significant border controls that are expected to last through December in most areas.

The Sixers said :-

The Sixers have said that if they are adept at hosting the final at home – Cricket Australia has left the option open, should controls allow at the end of November – that Erin Burns could rejoin the team.

“I’m disappointed I can’t get into the Sydney Sixers because the WBBL is always such a stretch of the season and so not being able to pull off magenta with the girls is cataclysmic,” she said. “I look forward to doing great work in this group and I will be following it closely.”

Sydney Sixers are currently sixth on the table with two wins in their first five matches.
