India beat Bangladesh by five runs in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. There was a lot of controversy regarding the match played on November 2. The rain also disturbed and at one point it seemed that the match was out of India’s hands. Talking on this match, Sunil Gavaskar said that it would be better to say that Bangladesh lost the match than to say that India won the match. Gavaskar said that when the match started after rain, the Bangladesh team looked nervous, the batsmen were ready to hit a few more sixes and this became the biggest reason for Bangladesh’s defeat.
T20 WC 2022: Gavaskar on India Today said –
“At one time Bangladesh’s score was 66 runs in seven overs without losing a wicket. So we were talking about 9 runs per over and they were scoring these runs very easily and they had 10 wickets in their account. And after that The target was reduced by 33 runs.” Batting first, India had scored 184 runs in 20 overs and when the match started after rain, Bangladesh got a target of 151 runs in 16 overs.
T20 WC 2022: Gavaskar said –
“The Bangladeshi players seemed to have gone into panic. The required run rate was almost the same as it was earlier. Instead of playing smart cricket, Bangladeshi batsmen were looking to hit a six off every ball. Whereas Indian bowlers bowled smart. Bangladeshi batsmen were getting caught out on the shots which should have been sixes. Better than India won I would say Bangladesh lost.”
