T20 World Cup 2022, Jasprit Bumrah: A few weeks before the start of the T20 World Cup, India has suffered another major setback. After star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, now Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to injury.

A BCCI official told PTI that Bumrah is suffering from a serious back pain problem (stress fracture) and may have to be out of the team for months.

Jasprit Bumrah may have to be out for six months due to back pain :-

A BCCI official told PTI on the condition of confidentiality, โ€œIt is certain that Bumrah will not be able to play in the T20 World Cup. He has severe back pain and may have to be out for six months.

A stress fracture is a small crack in the bone, a problem common among athletes. If a bone injury is not taken care of from the beginning, it can turn into a stress fracture. Cricket experts are giving their different opinions on Bumrahโ€™s injury. Many are saying that BCCI did not give Bumrah a full chance to be fit, while some people are of the opinion that BCCI showed haste in including Bumrah in the team.

Due to Bumrahโ€™s bowling action, his problems are increasing :-

However, an angle is also coming out that due to Bumrahโ€™s bowling action, his problems are increasing. A video of former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar from last year is going viral on social media, in which Shoaib cautioned Bumrah about back problems and bowling action. He had also told that if not taken care of, then Bumrahโ€™s back problem will increase in the next one year and it can become a threat to his career.

The BCCI is yet to give an official update on Bumrahโ€™s injury or his replacement, but according to media reports, either Mohammad Siraj or Mohammed Shami could get a chance.

Shoaib Akhtarโ€™s one year old prediction came true :-

Shoaib Akhtar had said on Sports Tak a year ago, โ€œHis (Bumrahโ€™s) bowling is based on frontal action. Players with that type of action create momentum with their back and shoulders. Front-on action bowlers have a back injury, so it is difficult for them to get rid of it. No matter how hard you try, you canโ€™t avoid it.โ€

The Rawalpindi Express cited the examples of former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop and former New Zealand pacer Shane Bond, saying that Jasprit Bumrah cannot play for India in all three formats. He also gave the reason for this.

Shoaib Akhtar said, โ€œBumrah will have to adopt this strategyโ€ :-

Akhtar said, โ€œI saw my bishop Shane Bond battling a back problem and both of them had frontal action. Bumrah now needs to think like this, โ€˜I played one match, took a leave and then for rehabโ€™. He needs to manage it.

If you feed him every match, in a year he will be completely broke. Feed him three out of five matches and take him out. This is one thing Bumrah has to manage if he wants to last forever.
