“Obviously the biggest challenge for Australia is coming to India, doing well, and winning the series. We were lucky enough to do this in 2004.

Bowlers have to learn to bowl in those conditions:-

You have to come up with good plans, the batsmen have to learn to turn the pitches and the bowlers have to learn to bowl in those conditions.”

“I think with IPL, a lot of players have been here (in India) regularly and hence experienced the conditions.

It is clear from their performances in Sri Lanka and Pakistan that the current Australian team is starting to get a better understanding of how to play on subcontinental wickets.

In Australia the Pitches are quicker and bouncer:-

“You just need to come up with a plan that works. The pitches in Australia are fast and bouncier so you can bowl in those good areas.

The secret is still in control, whether to bowl outside the off-stump or just outside. The length will obviously be different so it’s all about adapting to the length.

You can probably bowl a little tighter, you can have more ring-field and it can be difficult for the batsmen to score.

It’s just about having clear plans, but then being able to execute those plans over a longer period of time.”
