Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal, who is preparing to take part in the upcoming Everest Premier League, has received a no-objection certificate from the Bangladesh Cricket Board to take part in the competition. His participation in the tournament will mark his return to competitive cricket after a two-month rehabilitation from a knee injury.

Tamim Iqbal missed three consecutive T20I series against Australia and New Zealand :

Tamim Iqbal, who missed three consecutive T20I series against Zimbabwe, Australia, and New Zealand. Due to a knee injury and withdrew from the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. He started his preparations on 19 September at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Tamim Iqbal had initially planned to play in the EPL as part of the preparation for the T20 World Cup. But the later decision was not to be a part of the global event.

Tamim Iqbal has got NOC:

Akram Khan, president of BCB cricket operations, confirmed that Tamim had received the NOC. The southpaw batted for 50 minutes in the nets and also did some fielding drills as a part of training.

BCB’s chief physician Debashish Choudhary, who had closely watched Tamim Iqbal while batting in the nets, said he was expecting him to be fully fit ahead of the tournament in Nepal from September 25 to October 9.

Debashish says Tamim has no problem while batting:

Debashish says Tamim doesn’t have any problem while batting. But we have to see how he feels while running and fielding. But the way he is improving, we are hopeful that he will be able to make it to the EPL.”

Tamim Iqbal injured his right knee during Bangladesh’s two-Test tour of Sri Lanka in April-May. He featured in the home ODI series against Sri Lanka as well as in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 League. However, he had to leave the tournament midway due to injury while playing in the league. And missed the one-off Test against Zimbabwe. After leading the team in an ODI series in Zimbabwe, Tamim skipped the T20 leg and went through a rehabilitation program after returning home.

Tamim, who represents Bhairava Gladiators in the tournament.

The EPL is scheduled to begin on March 14. But it was postponed due to Kovid-19.
