The Perth Scorchers crashed out of a seven-point lead at the top of the BBL ladder after registering a 47-run bonus-point win over Melbourne Stars in the first leg of the Kardinia Park double-header on Tuesday.
The Decision Masterstroke Proved :-
After winning the toss, Perth’s decision to bat first proved to be a masterstroke as they blasted the Stars’ attack across the park en route 3–196, which included 10 sixes and 12 fours.

Laurie Evans (69 off 46 balls), which Haris Roff missed a gilt-edge opportunity to run him out, and captain Ashton Turner (47 not out on 26) with eight favorites was the main destroyer for the championship. Sixes and five fours between them.
Nick Hobson (46 off 36), playing his first BBL game for the Scorchers in nearly three years, did not destroy his opportunity with six fours.
Melbourne bowlers Clint Hinchcliffe (0–27 of two), who was included as the X-factor player for Brody Couch, Kais Ahmed (0–40 off four), and Rauf (2 off four). 38) had come for special punishment.
The 19 Balls Waiting for the First Boundary :-
The Stars took too long to go, waiting for 19 balls for their first boundary. Which in addition to the best efforts of Beau Webster opened the batting. For the Stars for the first time. They Attempted to curb the expected run rate. Failed that and scored 63 runs out of 47.
Matthew Kelly broke the Stars’ batting line-up, taking career-best figures of 4-25 in his four overs, which included the leading wickets of Joe Burns (20 off 17) and Hilton Cartwright (10 off eight). As that Melbourne concluded. 9-149, losing 6-43 in 38 balls.
In-form Joe Clarke, who moved to No. 5 with a change of plan, scored only 17 runs and his streak of four-straight 50s was a disaster.
Melbourne’s tail order competed to end the innings and Perth’s total proved too large for the chase.
Beyond Webster’s 63, Joe Burns’ 20 was the next highest score for the Stars in an innings, where he never really looked inconceivable.
Matthew Kelly was guiding the ball. With the Scorchers, taking a game-high four wickets including Nick Larkins, Burns, and Hilton Cartwright.
