ICC Women’s T20 World Cup: The Host cities for the inaugural ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup and ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 have been announced.
Both events will take place in South Africa. While the Under-19 tournament will be holding in January 2023, the senior women’s event will be holding from February 10 to 26.

The coastal cities of Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth), Paarl, and Cape Town will host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, while the first edition of the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup will take place in Benoni and Potchefstroom.
10 countries will be participating in the senior women’s tournament, of which eight have been confirmed – South Africa, Australia, India, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and the West Indies.
The remaining two teams will be determining in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier, which will take place in the UAE in September 2022.
“We are thrilling to announce the three cities to host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup,” said tournament director Russell Adams.
“Eastern and Western Cape are major cricket and tourist destinations with great facilities and infrastructure. We have no doubt that these venues will step forward to create a memorable. And uniquely African celebration of cricket for the local and international fans attending the event.”
The U19 T20 World Cup will be a 16-team event. With the 15 teams decided (Australia, India, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, WI, United States, Zimbabwe, United A. Emirates, Indonesia, and Netherlands). The final place will be confirming at the conclusion of the tournament. Africa Qualifier in September
The director of the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup tournament, Sivuele Makingwana, is looking forward to the tournament. “It’s a special time for women’s cricket in South Africa.
We are excited to host the inaugural U19 Women’s T20 World Cup. And look forward to focusing on the best cricketers in the world,” she said.
ICC Head of Events Chris Tetley also expressed his excitement over the announcement. “We are pleasing to announcing the host cities. Both women’s events are to be holding in South Africa in early 2023.
“It is a very exciting time for women’s cricket. With the first U19 T20 World Cup showcasing the future stars of our game. And the next edition of the ultimate prize in the T20 format.
