The Schedule For ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier 2022 Announced. The tournament will take place in Abu Dhabi from 18 to 25 September 2022, at two venues – Zayed Cricket Stadium and Tolerance Oval. The practice matches will be played on 16.

The final will be Played on September 25 at Zayed Cricket Stadium:-

The group games will be held on September 18, 19, and 21, followed by the playoffs on 23 and the final on September 25 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium.

The eight teams have been divided into two groups and the top two teams will ensure their place in the main event, which will be played in South Africa in February-March 2023.

Group A consists of Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland, and the USA; Group B will consist of Thailand, Zimbabwe, PNG, and UAE.

Bangladesh and Thailand made it to the qualifiers based on their MRF Tires ICC Women’s Team Rankings when they participated in the previous edition of the T20 World Cup in 2020.

In August 2021, Scotland (Europe) became the first team to qualify through a regional qualifier. In the following months, they were joined by Zimbabwe (Africa), the United Arab Emirates (Asia), and the United States of America (USA).

Their regional qualifiers due to the COVID-19 Pandemic:-

PNG was the highest ranked side from East Asia Pacific and qualified as they were not able to helding their regional qualifiers due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last place went to Ireland, the highest ranked team from the regional qualifiers, but did not win the respective tournament.

Bangladesh will start the tournament with one of their favorite players. In four qualifying events in the past, Bangladesh have qualified three times – twice as winners and once as runners-up.

The 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will be the eighth edition of the tournament, with South Africa hosting the event for the first time.

Being the hosts, the Proteas have already qualified for the tournament along with Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and West Indies.

The Competing for just two Places in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup:-

“This T20 World Cup Qualifier is going to be a grand event. With eight closely matching teams competing for just two places in next year’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa.

The level of competition in women’s sports has increased significantly compared to the past. With four years and more representing each ICC region in Abu Dhabi, it will be an up-and-coming event,” said ICC Head of Events Chris Tetley.

Emirates Cricket Development Manager Andrew Russell also expressed his happiness on the occasion. “Women’s cricket has never been better around the world and in the United Arab Emirates, and it is essential for our Board to continue to build on this momentum.

We aim to do so through hosting this prestigious event, which we believe can be a vehicle that accelerates the growth of the sport in this country and our region.”
