Due to political tension, relations between India and Pakistan deteriorated and Pakistani players could play only one IPL (year 2008). Former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi represented Deccan Chargers in the IPL. He scored only 81 runs in 10 matches. He has played for Peshawar, Karachi, Multan and Quetta in PSL.

Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik played for Delhi in the IPL. In IPL, he scored 52 runs in 7 matches. He represented Karachi, Multan and Peshawar in the Pakistan Super League.
