Tim Southee: Tim Southee Created History, Leaving Behind the Great Headley-Vettori to Become New Zealand’s top Bowler

The second match of the two-Test series is being played between England and New Zealand in Wellington. Batting first, England scored 315 runs losing three wickets till the end of the first day’s play. Harry Brook is unbeaten on 184 off 169 balls and Joe Root is unbeaten on 101 off 182 balls. Matt Henry got two wickets and Tim Southee got one wicket from New Zealand. Saudi made history by taking a wicket.

Southee has become the highest wicket-taker for New Zealand in all three formats. He completed 700 international wickets. In this case, Saudi left behind the great Kiwi bowler Sir Richard Hadlee and Daniel Vettori. Vettori has 696 wickets in all three formats, while Headley has 589 wickets. Trent Boult is at number four with 578 wickets. Chris Cairns is in fifth place with 419 wickets.

Saudi is at Number 16 in this list

Overall, Muttiah Muralitharan is in the first place with 1347 wickets among the highest wicket takers in all three formats. Australia’s late spinner Shane Warne is second with 1001 wickets. At the same time, James Anderson of England is in third place with 969 wickets. India’s Anil Kumble is in fourth place with 956 wickets. Saudi is at number 16 in this list. Southee has taken 356 wickets in 92 Tests, while he has 210 wickets in ODIs and 134 wickets in T20Is.

Hadlee is the highest wicket-taker in Tests for New Zealand with 431 wickets. At the same time, Vettori is in second place with 361 wickets and Saudi is in third place. In ODIs, Vettori is first with 297 wickets and Kyle Mills is second with 240 wickets. Saudi is also on the third place in this list. Saudi is the highest wicket taker for New Zealand in T20. After him comes the number of Ish Sodhi (114).

England Got Off to a Bad Start

Talking about the match, England’s start was very bad. The team had lost three wickets for 21 runs. Jack Crowley was dismissed for two runs, Ben Duckett for nine runs and Ollie Pope for 10 runs. After this, Root and Brook have shared a 294-run partnership for the fourth wicket so far.
