Tom Abell appointed as Somerset T20 captain
Somerset has handed over the T20 captaincy for 2022 to Tom Abell. In which Lewis Gregory has stepped down to focus on his role across all formats.

Gregory led Somerset to last year’s Vitality Blast final. where he was defeated by Kent. He will be replaced by Abel, who is already the county captain in championship cricket.
Somerset’s head coach, Jason Kerr, praised Lewis, saying that “Lewis has done an outstanding job as Vitality Blast captain.” “His leadership has been exemplary. And he came in a tizzy to lift the trophy last year. Under his leadership, Somerset’s T20 cricket has gone uphill. We have also won a huge number of games and reached the final twice.

Tom has proven himself to be an excellent multi-format leader. And he has also done an outstanding job leading the team in first T20 cricket. This appointment will give us stability within the leadership group throughout the game. And It’s a challenge that I know Tom is enjoying.
