Somerset batsman Tom Abell has signed with Brisbane Heat for the upcoming BBL. The promising right-hander also has the opportunity to be part of the England Lions team set to tour Australia in approval of England’s Ashes team.
The 27-year-old joined Ben Duckett and Mujeeb Ur Rahman as the third overseas player in the Brisbane Heat to replace Somerset teammate Tom Banton.
Abell’s Outstanding Vitality Blast Season :-
Tom comes out of the Highest Vitality Blast season. Where he scored 295 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 161.20. Including four half-centuries. The helping Somerset reaches the final.
He has a great deal of experience touring Australia with the England Lions in 2019-20 to play an unofficial Test against Australia A at the MCG.
Tom Abell has also played three seasons of grade cricket in Perth. They playing alongside the likes of Shaun and Mitch Marsh, Ashton Turner, and Jhye Richardson.

Abell joins a growing list of Somerset players to play in the Brisbane Heat, including Banton and Lewis Gregory.
A long association with Somerset :-
“I can’t wait to get out of Australia and join the Heat Club,” said Tom Abel. “I have always been a big fan of the BBL, and over the years have had a longstanding association with the Heat and Somerset with Lewis Gregory, Tom Banton, Craig Kieswetter, and Roelof van der Merwe.
“I’m really excited by the opportunity, and I look forward to being on the team and doing my job.”
Tom has come under big wraps after making a tremendous T20 record in England. Brisbane Heat assistant coach Darren Lehmann and former Queensland great Stuart Law requested Abell to be new Heat coach Wade Secombe after both had seen him closely while coaching clubs in England.
“The more we saw Abel, and the more people we caught up with, the more certain we became that he would fit in really well in the heats,” Secombe said.
