Tom Latham and Kane Williamson’s unbeaten 71-run partnership lead New Zealand to 117

Tom Latham and Kane Williamson shared an unbroken 71-run stand to take New Zealand’s lead to 117 at lunch on the fourth day of the second Test in Karachi.

The visitors bowled out Pakistan for 408 in the first over of the morning. Picking up the last remaining wicket, but lost the in-form Devon Conway for a duck early in their second innings.

Mir Hamza gave the hosts the start they needed after squandering a slim 41-run lead. He struck his very first ball – a length ball that edged back slightly and clipped Conway’s pads and hit the stumps. However, the rest of the session was marred by some poor DRS reviews from Pakistan either side of the drink break

Kane Williamson, however, had nothing to worry –

Abrar Ahmed twice persuaded Babar Azam to appeal for LBW against Kane Williamson, which the Pakistan captain reluctantly did. Williamson, however, had nothing to worry about as both were sliding down the leg. He became the fifth player and the first New Zealander to complete 7000 Test runs at No.7. 3rd place on reaching 14.
