Australia’s head coach Andrew McDonald had recently indicated that the opening batsman cannot be used directly in place of Warner. Head replaced the injured Warner in India earlier this year, where he bounced back with the new ball to bowl at an average of 55.75 in five innings.

Travis Head told reporters in Perth ahead of the first Test against Pakistan starting on Thursday.

“The selectors are happy with me in the middle order.” “I think [opening] it’s an expert’s job. Those who have been waiting to get into the team for some time deserve their first crack at it. But talks are on with everyone… The only thing for me is to [open up in] the subcontinent. “I don’t see myself traveling a lot in the future.”
