Trent Boult becomes 2nd New Zealander to take 300 Test wickets
Trent Boult became the second New Zealander to take 300 Test wickets and cheered his parents. He also had an old friend inside the boundary ropes to get wet in a jiffy.

At the end of a frenetic day of Test cricket in Christchurch, he said that having Tim Southee with him makes the milestone even more special.

Boult joined Southee, Daniel Vettori, and Sir Richard Hadlee in an exclusive club of New Zealand cricketers to take 300 Test wickets. He would finish the day at 301 for five in his ninth Test to bowl out Bangladesh for 126 runs.
“It’s so special to be associated with Southee and Danielle and Sir Richard,” Trent said. “I think we met at the end of U-17 cricket. I’m always learning from him, I think he has an uncompromising work ethic and his record speaks for itself.

Boult and Southee were the main orchestrators of Bangladesh’s captaincy on the second day of the Christchurch Test, with old friends distributing four wickets, which left the guests 12/4 in reply to New Zealand’s 521 for 6. The left-hander, the highest wicket-taker at Hagley Oval – 53 – said the wind blowing across the field was a key factor in his and the team’s success.
“I’m usually trying to pitch the ball. Get a little bit of movement in the air,” Bolt said. “The wicket provides a bit of bounce. It has a good grass cover.
The wind is a big thing for us as a bowling unit. It is usually from left to right. It suits me and Timmy well, and then Neil Wagner and KJ Kyle Jamieson come back to do the things they do.”
The Small Subtleties of the Winds Coming :-
“That’s the beauty of Test cricket. Different grounds, the little subtleties that come with the winds. The wicket obviously provides a little bounce with the grass. I thought the way the boys started, got a few wickets early.” To do, not really release the pressure, I think we did what we talked about.
It’s just to get them to play on the front foot, and bowl to each other at each end. Only half the job was done but it was a satisfying afternoon.

New Zealand, who had taken a high of 395 in the first innings, will be fresh off Boult and Co at the start of the third day and are thus likely to call for a follow-on. Boult was unconvinced of that decision and insisted it was important to go 1-1 in the series.
“The idea of winning a Test match in New Zealand and coming back [1-1] in the series is also going to be special – it’s something to be strongly pursued.”
