Ex-AUS pacer Trent Copeland has made scathing attack on the Australian cricket team saying the ODI series loss against South Africa has exposed one too many holes in the squad. He also questioned the performance of all-rounders Cameron Green and Marcus Stoinis during the series
Trent Copeland told SEN1170 Breakfast –
“I was hoping in these matches, we would get one of Cameron Green or Marcus Stoinis stick their head above water and say ‘you have to pick me’. I’d say it’s still Marcus Stoinis to go with a returning Glenn Maxwell, with Mitchell Marsh as the all-rounders in that lineup.
Trent added – “There’s some alarming factors here. Josh Inglis is there as the reserve batter for the World Cup, but he’s also a backup wicketkeeper. He’s got another duck and hasn’t played as the reserve keeper a lot on tours. He misses all the domestic summer and hasn’t had a lot of cricket.
Trent said – “Now he is the reserve batter; if anything goes wrong for Australia in the World Cup, …say Mitch Marsh gets injured, he’s the man relied upon to come in and make an impact.”
