Jonny Bairstow led the charge with a magnificent knock of 86 runs off 60 balls, comprising 8 fours and 4 towering sixes. He was well-supported by Harry Brook, who smashed 67 runs off just 36 deliveries, including 5 fours and 5 sixes. This formidable partnership set the foundation for England’s imposing total.
In response, the New Zealand bowlers struggled to contain the English batsmen. Bairstow’s spectacular innings and Brook’s aggressive strokeplay were the highlights of England’s batting performance.
Chasing a challenging target of 199 runs, New Zealand found themselves in a tough spot right from the start. Their top-order faltered, with only Tim Seifert showing resistance, scoring 39 runs off 31 balls.
The England bowlers, led by Gus Atkinson‘s superb performance (4 wickets for 20 runs), maintained a tight grip on the game. Adil Rashid and Brydon Carse also made crucial contributions, taking wickets at regular intervals.
