Two BAN Women Cricketers Test Positive for Covid-19 after tour of ZIM

Two members of the BAN Women cricket team tested positive for COVID-19 after returning home from Zimbabwe, forcing the national cricket body to extend the period of isolation.

ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 Qualifiers :-

The Discovery of COVID-19 positive cases came five days after the Bangladesh women’s cricket team returning home from the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 qualifiers in Zimbabwe, which we’re calling off midway.

Bangladesh had participated in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 qualifiers and is in additional quarantine before returning home.

With a new COVID-19 variant Omicron that originated in South Africa rocking the world, the Bangladesh government imposed new travel rules on people returning from the African country.

The ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 qualifiers were calling off midway due to Omicron’s wrath.

The Negative Verdict in Two Tests :-

“The team members, who were sharing. The same room had given negative judgments in two investigations conducting in Dhaka on December 1 and 3. However, the third PCR test report on 6 December showing both of them to be Covid-19 positive. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said.

“As such, the required isolation of the team. Which was due to end today (Monday, December 6, 2021), has been extended in line with the BCB’s COVID-19 leadership protocol.

Team members will undergo further investigation and assessment during the extended disconnection. The type of virus is not yet knowing.

The players were to be released from quarantine on Monday. And meet BCB president Nazmul Hassan to celebrate their potential for the 2022 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand. The program now remains blocked.

A Qualify For Mega Event :-

Bangladesh, Pakistan, and West Indies have qualified for the mega-event based on their rankings, in addition to midway dismissal of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 qualifiers.

They will join Australia, England, India, South Africa, and host New Zealand in an eight-team competition.

The 2022 Women’s World Cup will be held from March 4 to April 3.
