Usman Khawaja will Replace Travis Head in Sydney

Usman Khawaja will replace Travis Head for the fourth Ashes Test in Sydney as Australia resisted the temptation to introduce spinner Mitchell Swepson.

A Decided To Make A Change :-

The hosts have decided to make only one change as Josh Hazlewood and Jhye Richardson are still recovering from injuries and focus on their return to the final Test in Hobart.

“It’s no secret that if Joshi had received Hazlewood, he was going to play,” Cummins said. “He’s just been a great bowler for us for a long time.

We gave Josh every opportunity we could, it felt like he couldn’t bowl at full tilt yesterday. We’re still hoping he’ll be right for Hobart.

Michelle Swepson’s Overseas Tour :-

With tours to the subcontinent, Australia is looking to play the role of Swepson to give him some Test feel before traveling to Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and India this year. However, Cummins insisted that Michelle Swepson is likely to appear on overseas tours.

“I don’t think I have played anywhere in Australia in the last few years where I have featured two spinners,” he said. “We would love to have that option, he is a class bowler, itching to get him in the team one day.

“We think he’ll come in some position. Most likely with the amount of subcontinent tours we’re coming up with that’s going to be his opportunity. You never know, we might one day be here. And here Might be a dust bowl, but I’d say overseas most likely.”

The Continued To Dominate :-

Cummins admitted that Australia, apart from leading 3–0, is not yet easy to use and wants to play a balanced team that gives them the best opportunity to continue their dominance. “You have to strike a balance,” he said.

“It’s Test match cricket, we still only play 10 of them a year. So there’s not a Test where you think it’s a fair experiment. I think your best players will most likely become your best players.” Going whether it is in Australia or abroad.”
