Virat and Rohit ‘get into the groove’ in nets ahead of IND-AFG T20 WC tie

Indian captain Virat and Rohit were the first players to hit the nets before the Indo-Afghanistan match. After two losses in as many games, it has become a do-or-die game for the Men in Blue in their hopes of reaching the semi-finals.

The Indian teams match so far :-

  • As Kohli and Sharma hit the nets ahead of the all-important India-Afghanistan tie in the 2021 T20 World Cup.
  • India’s batting unit has disappointed against both PAK and NZ in the tournament so far.
  • India faces AFG in a must-win clash in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday evening.

Indian captain Kohli and vice-captain Sharma worked hard during a practice session ahead of the crucial India-Afghanistan encounter in the T20 World Cup. Both Virat and Rohit were the first to hit the nets in India’s training session a day before the big clash.

After two losses in two, the game is a do-or-die fight for the Indian team for their low hopes of reaching the semi-finals. Not only do the Men in Blue need to make sure they win all three games, but the 2007 champions will also need other conclusions to have any chance of advancing from the group.

The Board of Control for India (BCC) posted a video showing Kohli and Sharma’s intense net session on the eve of the game. The BCCI captioned the post, “Talk about getting into the groove,” in which both the batsmen can be seen playing a variety of shots that left the cricketing glee.

India’s batting has been one of the biggest concerns in the first two matches so far. Against both Pakistan and New Zealand, the Men in Blue failed to set up a decent total on the board and gave their bowlers a real opportunity to defend the score.

India struggling to make a comeback in the tournament :-

The form of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be a major concern as India struggles to make a comeback in the tournament. While Kohli scored a half-century against Pakistan, in the second match, he scored only 9 runs in 17 balls. Meanwhile, Rohit was dismissed for zero in the opening match and scored just 14 runs against the Kiwis.

Both found themselves lower down the batting order against New Zealand as Sharma and Kohli batted at number three and number four respectively. It will be interesting to see if India changes the batting order once against Afghanistan.
