India’s star batsman Virat Kohli scored his 72nd international century in the third and final ODI against Bangladesh. He played a century in ODI cricket after 3 years. This is his 44th century in ODI cricket and now he is only 5 centuries away from Sachin’s 49 ODI hundreds.
Ricky Ponting’s record was broken :-
Prior to this match, he was equal to Ricky Ponting with 71 international centuries and he left behind Ricky Ponting’s record as soon as he scored his 72nd century. He is now second only to Sachin Tendulkar in terms of most international centuries, who have 100 international centuries in 782 innings.

After a long wait this year Virat Kohli had scored his 71st century :-
This year, after a long wait, he scored his 71st century against Afghanistan, but it was in the T20I format. Against Bangladesh, he has left behind Ponting’s record of 71 centuries by scoring a century in 85 balls. Kohli was dismissed after playing an inning of 113 runs off 91 balls. He hit 11 fours and 2 sixes in his innings.
